Steve Watson has been the Director of Jazz Studies at the acclaimed Greenville County Fine Arts Center until earlier this year, 2023, when he retired as one of the most influential guitar teachers in the region. Steve is responsible for generations of proficient guitarists, many of whom are working around the world in the music industry, most recently notables include Marcus King.  Before coming to the Fine Arts Center, Watson was an in-demand player in Los Angeles, where he laid down the tracks for Hill Street Blues, Magnum P.I., and hundreds of other television shows and films. Steve has toured with Bruce Hornsby, Dolly Parton, and played all over world as a jazz musician. If there were a Mt. Rushmore of Greenville Jazz musicians, Mr. Watson would be front and center.
