from 1904 to at least 1912, conrad’s music house was one of the largest purveyors of musical instruments and sheet music in town. the proprietor was k.s. conrad, who was originally from nebraska. The store was located at 121 S. Main st, which today is the location of the entrance to the wells fargo building. it had 2,000 sq. ft. of floor space, and employed up to eight traveling salesmen who represented conrad’s on the road. the store specialized in kimball pianos, and supplied them all over the state. conrad’s was originally opened in columbia, but after three years moved to greenville.
